I started Micheal Moorcock's collection featuring 'Ulrich Von Bek'.

Its another Otherworld Emanation of the Eternal Champion, wherein Von Bek agrees to find the 'Cure for the World's Pain' on Lucifer's behalf in order to regain possession of his soul.

If the first three chapters are anything to judge by, this is truly marvelous stuff!

I heard there is going to be a movie - or series of - about Elric of Melnibone...that would make great eye-candy...Elric the world weary albino slashing victims with Stormbringer to suck souls for his demonic patriarch, Lord Arioch of the Higher Plane...!

Gridiron by Philip Kerr.

About a computer that runs a building and kills people.

Not finished it yet, but it's bordering on ridiculous.

If Lord of the Rings is too much for you, you should stay away from Silmarillion.

At the moment I`m reading John Merriman`s [i:e3cc2b506d]Modern Europe - From the Renaissance to the Present[/i:e3cc2b506d] (guess what it`s all about? ) and Karsten Alnæs`s [i:e3cc2b506d]Historien om Norge part I[/i:e3cc2b506d].

I agree, if its taking you so long to read The Lord of The Rings, stay the fuck away from The Simarillion...its far more dense in content and scope...its like the 'history' of Middle Earth out of which The Lord of The Rings is but a small chapter.

But if you have a decade or two to put aside, go for it!

Irvine Welsh - Trainspotting. It's quite good, even if it's little confusing, but maybe that's 'cos i saw the movie first?
Next book i'm going to read is Dan Simmons - Hyperion
And of course the usual ammount of classic H.P Lovecraft...

'Gardens of the Moon' by Steven Erikson.

Has anyone here read any stuff by Nietzsche? If so, would you recommend it?
